Hi, this is Patrice Badami, with Acorn to tree children’s book review. And today, I have a book that’s very close to my heart. I really love this book. It’s from Dolly Parton. And it’s called coat of many colors. And the illustrations are by Judith Sutton. It’s just such a beautiful book. I love this because the message is such a powerful one. It talks about how where jolly came from, it’s talking about where she grew up, and how her mom used to get, you know, a bag of rags from different people, and how she would make the most out of it. They didn’t have a lot of money, and she would create different things that were treasures to her to dolly and Burton siblings because they looked at it like my mother sewed these things together for me. And unfortunately, there are times when people see things that are homemade, and they might judge them and not think they’re as polished perhaps as things they’ve purchased in the store. Here. Young dolly realizes the value and the beauty in what her mom made her. And she’s so proud of this beautiful coat. And so this book here, it just was something special because my mom used to make me many clothes and things. And it reminded me of her and how much of herself she put into things she sold. So this is a wonderful book, especially if you’re a quilter you might appreciate it even more. Once again coat of many colors, Dolly Parton’s story of appreciating family and understanding how much her family put into taking care of her and tried to give her the best of what they had. And it just gave her some values that she really probably carries through today. Being so appreciative. Illustrated by Judith Sutton, beautiful book wonderfully, just the illustrations are just beautiful. I’m going to open up to a page here. And that’s where dolly is sitting there. She’s so proud of wearing the coat that her mom made for her. And it’s just a wonderful book. See if you could find it. It’s one of my favorites.
