Number Clip Activity

This number recognition activity is a fun way to encourage your child to visualize quantity and learn their numbers. You can also use this concept to teach letters, sight words and more! The clipping action is a fine motor skill that helps to strengthen childrens grip and encourage hand eye coordination.

Hi, this is Patrice Badami, with Acorn to tree crafting with Patrice and I wanted to show you how I use index cards and a laundry clip to create a fun activity. So here, what I have is I have a piece of an index card, I put stickers on top, put a line, and I put three numbers on the bottom. So what the child has to do is they’re going to have to clip in order to know you know, they’re going to have the number recognition, numeral recognition. And then they’re going to be counting and associating the to the number with the quantity. So that’s really, you know, it’s an important skill, plus the fine motor using the paper, the laundry clip, to be able to do it. So you can do it according to your child’s level. You can get move up into the teens and the 20s, whatever, you know, works for you. So it’s just a nice little activity using cards. And it’s you can laminate them for durability, or if you don’t want to you don’t have to laminate. Having said that I do just so I can have it as materials for different kids I work with. So once again, they’re going to be clipping the different numerals and counting. So it’s just a cute idea. You can have your child put the stickers on, you can have them draw the lines, and then they’re involved with creating the material. So that’s kind of a nice thing because it makes them feel proud. And then they’ll be more likely to want to play with it once they’re involved with it. So having said that, see if that’s something that might work for you. Enjoy it
