Hi, this is Patrice Badami, with Acorn to tree children’s book review. And this is a classic book I wanted to share with you. It’s called Pepe, the Lamplighter. It want to count a cot award for illustrations that Ted Lewin did. It’s written by Elisa Bartone. And it’s a very important book to share with your family because it’s about this little boy named Pepe, who grew up in little Italy and he lived on Mulberry Street in a tenement and how he took the job of lighting the lamps, before there was electricity. It was important that the lamps be lit every day, and how this child has the commitment of doing that. He continues to do it although his family wanted more for him. He ends up showing them and teaching them something very important about fortitude, reliability, and being faithful to what you’ve committed to do as a job. Beautiful story, Pepe the Lamplighter, written by Alisa Bartone, and it’s illustrated by Ted Lowen Sullivan
